Wilmette Police Blotter: iPod Theft, Trees Vandalized

Theft

A black iPod valued around $300 was stolen from an unlocked locker at Sheridan Shore Yacht Club, 20 Harbor Drive on May 8. The victim told police the doors into the clubs were locked so the thieve must have had the code to be inside the premises.

Several electronic items and clothing were reported missing from a house in the 1500 block of Lake Street since last year. The resident told police the only people with access to the items was a nanny and a cleaning service; both of whom he has fired. The resident declined to give contact information on the nanny or cleaning service.

Bike Theft

A locked bike was stolen from a bike rack at McKenzie School, 649 Prairie between May 15 and 16. 

Driving Under the Influence

Mary K. Maloney, 59, 1109 N. Euclid, Oak Park, was charged May 16 with driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding and improper lane usage. She was later released and giving a June 18 court date.

Teen Struck by Car

A Wilmette resident was cited May 17 for failure to yield after he struck a cyclist when turning right from westbound Wilmette Avenue to northbound Skokie Boulevard. The cyclist was transported to Skokie Hospital for minor injuries.

Tree Crimes

A tree limb fell in the 800 block of Greenwood Avenue and damaged two cars parked on the street on May 20.

Twelve trees in the 1700 block of Highland Avenue were sprayed painted with orange colored smiley faces on May 18.
