Wilmette Police Blotter: Scary Phone Calls, Nail Gun Theft

An unknown man reportedly made several phone calls from a restricted number to a Wilmette woman’s cell phone between Sept. 13 and Sept. 20, in which he cried, screamed and told the woman “I need you” and “I want you”. The woman reported the incidents to police on Sept. 22. According to the report, the woman described the caller’s voice as likely belonging to a man in his 40s or 50s.
Burglary to Vehicle

A $600 nail finishing gun was reportedly stolen from a vehicle parked in the 3200 block of Greenleaf Avenue sometime between 9 p.m. on Sept. 22 and 9:19 a.m. on Sept. 23. The driver side window of the vehicle had been smashed to gain entry.
A GPS device valued at $90 was reportedly stolen from a vehicle parked in the 1600 block of Washington Avenue sometime between 11 p.m. and 11:05 p.m. on Sept. 22. According to the report, the victim told police that he left his car parked and unlocked on the street while he went inside a building to retrieve some flowers, but that when he returned, he found the glove box of his car open and his GPS device missing. A possible witness reportedly told police that she someone running eastbound from the car shortly after 11 p.m.
An iPhone charger, an iPhone “stereo adapter” and a GPS device were reportedly stolen from a vehicle parked in the 1600 block of Washington Avenue sometime between 7 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. on Sept. 22. The items had a combined valuation of $310.
Fraud
A landlord living in the 1600 block of Sheridan Road reportedly told police on Sept. 22 that a prior tenant of his had put a stop payment order on a check she had issued him for her August rent. The landlord told police the tenant had since moved out and that he did not know where she currently resided.
A business owner operating in the 3200 block of Lake Avenue reportedly told police on Sept. 20 that a customer had bounced a check for $72.33 that had been written in August to pay for a pair of sandals that were bought June 29.
