Wilmette Police Department: Telephone Harassment, Tree Damages Car, Warrant Arrest

Warrant Arrest

Darray D. Brooks, 48, of 18152 Kedzie Ave., Apt. 101, Hazel Crest, was arrested on a warrant from Dupage County after police responded to a disable motorist in traffic on Happ Road on July 7.  Brooks was later released after posting bond. 

Telephone Harassment

A doorman in the 1600 block of Sheridan Road reported receiving numerous phone calls throughout the night of July 7. The doorman says he has been receiving harassing calls like this for the past three or four years and on one particular night received more than 75 calls. 

A resident in the 500 block of LeClaire Avenue reported receiving unwanted phone calls from a debt consolidation company between June 1 and July 6. 

Tree Limb Falls on Vehicle

The rear tail light and bumper of a vehicle parked in the 200 block of Central Park Avenue was damaged when a 20-foot long tree limb fell on the vehicle at 1:25 a.m. on July 8. Wilmette Public Works removed the limb from the road and Central Park Avenue was reopened to traffic at 4:30 a.m. 

Recovered Auto

On July 9, Skokie police attempted to stop two people exiting a car that was stolen from the 200 block of Sunset Drive on July 5. A juvenile passenger was taken into custody and turned over to Wilmette Detectives. The driver was not caught but Skokie police identified him as an African American male in his teens. 

Driving Incidents

Hafez Nihal, 47, of 59 Ledgewood Dr., North Brandfort, Conn., was arrested July 6 for driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop in the 2700 block of Lake Avenue.
