Wilmette Police Warn of Residential, Auto & Garage Burglaries

The village had more than a dozen auto and garage burglaries in an area between Ridge Avenue and Green Bay Road.

Wilmette police are advising residents to lock their property after more than a dozen burglaries occurred in the village last week, according to a crime alert. 

The auto and garage burglaries occurred in an area between Ridge Avenue and Green Bay Road, north of the Evanston border and south of the Kenilworth border. 

Police say one incident involved five offenders on bicycles, another involved nine offenders on bicycles. Police say the offenders were described as in their late teens to early 20s.

The burglaries occurred between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m. In each incident, the garage or vehicle was unlocked. 

Stolen items included small electronics, cash and mountain bicycles.

Residential Burglary Alert

Two residential burglaries occurred between June 4 and 5, according to the crime alert. 

A home in the 1500 block of Isabella was burglarized on June 4. The offenders forced open the door and stole a computer and jewelry before leaving through the alley, police said. 

There was an attempt to burglarize a home in the 100 block of Oxford Road, Kenilworth, on June 5. 

Police are asking people with information regarding these crimes to contact the at 847-256-1200.
