Wilmette Police Issues Robbery, Crime Alerts

A woman and youth were recently robbed while walking, several auto burglaries also occurred over the weekend.

have issued crime alerts following two robberies, one auto theft and several burglaries that occurred last week. 

Robberies 

Wilmette police arrested a man who tried to rob a woman of her purse in the 600 block of Linden Avenue at 6:44 a.m. on July 5.

The man fled on foot after a struggle with the woman. Police later located and arrested him at 7th Street and Laurel Avenue. 

Police say it was later reported that a few minutes prior to the incident, the man had hit a woman in the 700 block of Linden Avenue.

A youth told police that older youths had taken his I-phone near the intersection of Highland and Ridge roads around 9:25 a.m. on July 6.

Auto Burglaries

Police say auto burglaries occurred during the overnight hours of July 6 and 7 at the following locations:

  • 300 block of Maple Avenue
  • 100 block of 3rd Street
  • 200 block of Dupee Place
  • 200 block of 17th Street
  • 200 Central Park Avenue 

In each case, the vehicle was unlocked and small electronic items and coins were taken. 

Auto Theft

An unlocked car with keys inside were stolen from the driveway of a home in the 200 block of Sunset Drive during the overnight hours between July 5 and 6.
