Wilmette Wednesday Blotter: Criminal Damage to Romona and Starbucks Employee Assaulted

Theft and harassment are also included in today's blotter.

THEFT
A resident in the 1600 block of Walnut Avenue told authorities that two items of jewelry were taken from her home between Dec. 25 and March 9. The resident told police that she suspected the person responsible might work for a cleaning service. 


DUI
Authorities found a 27-year-old Chicago resident passed out behind the wheel at 3232 Lake Ave. She failed field sobriety tests and had a blood alcohol content of .146.

A 24-year-old Glenview man was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on March 12 at 3:59 a.m. The motorist didn't have proof of insurance, according to authorities. 


ARRESTS
A 42-year-old Glenview resident was arrested on March 10 and charged with reckless driving after he was clocked at driving 42 mph over the speed limit in the 2700 block of Lake Avenue.

A 33-year-old homeless man was arrested in the 1300 block of Central Avenue  and charged with assault at 12:47 p.m. March 11. The man had supposedly threatened a Starbucks employee at the Wilmette Metra station at 722 Green Bay Rd. earlier that day. The incident stemmed from an earlier encounter, when the employee notified authorities that the homeless man had been obstructing the doorway of the Starbucks at 739 Green Bay Rd. on March 9 at 11:10 a.m.

A 24-year-old Chicago resident was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license in the 2700 block of Wilmette Avenue at 6 p.m. on March 11.


HARASSMENT 
A female resident in the 1300 block of Richmond Avenue told police she had received numerous calls from a man telling her that she would get a large sum of money if she sent him $2,500 through Western Union. She told authorities that she had received more than two dozen calls in the past three weeks. The man has allegedly threatened to shoot the woman in the head if she doesn't cooperate, according to police reports. The telephone company cannot block the number because it was a Skype account, which uses the Internet to make calls.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Romona Elementary School's head reported on March 14 that the word  “Joker” was written with a marker on the door of a shed.

A resident in the 1900 block of Lake Avenue reported that an obscenity was scratch on a passenger side door of her car on March 14 at 5:20 p.m. The resident told authorities that the incident might have occurred while she was in the Wilmette Public Library and her car was parked along Prairie Avenue.
