Wilmette Wednesday Blotter: $553 Charged in Identity Theft Case; Alley Fire

A list of incidents that occurred up to March 7, according to police reports.

IDENTITY THEFT
A Wilmette resident reported on March 3 that he was the victim of identity theft in incidents that occurred between Feb. 28 and March 2.

The man told police a Tirerack.com sales associate called him about a $553.50 order that was placed on his credit card for four tires to be delivered in Atlanta. The card owner said he didn’t place the order. When he contacted his bank, the man discovered four unauthorized charges to his account, which he canceled.

THEFT
A 63-year-old Wilmette resident has been charged with theft for not paying a $175 cab fare.

A UPS package was taken from the front porch of a home in the 400 block of Wilshire Avenue. The item was reportedly delivered at 6:25 p.m. March 2.

Two fire extinguishers were reported stolen from Trinity United Methodist Church. The police report, which was taken at 1:11 p.m. March 7, noted the items were removed during the past three months. 

FRAUD
A resident in the 400 block of Beverly Drive reported that her debit card account was used to make unauthorized purchases.

PHONE CALL COMPLAINT
A resident in the 1900 block of Birchwood Avenue reported that her daughter's former boyfriend had been calling the home incessantly between 12 p.m. and 11 p.m. March 3. The mother said she would attempt to obtain an order of protection and had requested a special watch on her home.

FIRE INVESTIGATION
A trash fire in an alley in the 1200 block of Washington Avenue was reported at 7:42 p.m.  March 3.
