You Want Pepper Spray on that Popcorn? And Other Odd Crimes

Some conspicuously large items were also stolen by criminals featured in this week's look at unusual crimes in our Patch region.

Local police departments provided the following reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt.

A Palatine woman allegedly sprayed a man with pepper spray at a Northbrook movie theater because she thought he was approaching her boyfriend aggressively, according to police. She inadvertently sprayed other people nearby as well.

A Skokie man reported that someone stole his entire 10-by-8-foot shed from his backyard.

A Glencoe resident reported that a squirrel fell from the kitchen ceiling of her home about noontime. Police helped her set a trap.

Movers in Skokie left the back of their truck open when they went inside to bring out more things. When they returned, they realized a 47-inch plasma TV was missing.

Someone stole a semi truck from the parking lot of a Des Plaines trucking company.

Three cell phones were stolen from three different people at a Northbrook skate park when their owners left them on a bench or ledge while skating.

An unlocked gate was pried open at a Wilmette home. The homeowner said she heard someone banging on her fence, and when she came outside to investigate a man said “Sorry, wrong place,” and left.
