7,448 Early Ballots Cast in Wilmette

This was the first year the village had an early voting location.

Over 7,000 people voted early in Wilmette in advance of the 2012 presidential election.

Wilmette's Community Recreation Center, 3000 Glenview Rd., was one of four new early voting centers added this year in Cook County, and 7,448 people ventured to the location to cast their ballots between Oct. 22 and Nov. 3, according to the Cook County Clerk's Office website.

Friday, Nov. 2 saw the biggest turnout at the Wilmette location, when 793 people voted.

Early voting increased slightly countywide form the last presidential election, rising from 226,038 in 2008 to 228,695 during this election.
