FEMA Reps in Wilmette June 18 to Help With Federal Aid Application

As a result of the April 18th storm, President Barack Obama declared all of Cook County (and other Illinois counties), including Wilmette, a federal disaster area.

Wilmette residents and business are eligible to apply for federal disaster assistance for temporary housing and home repairs, and low-interest loans for uninsured property losses, according to the village’s website.

The application deadline is July 9, 2013.

To assist residents in the application process, FEMA representatives will be at the Village Hall on Tuesday, June 18th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

To apply, you must register at www.disasterassistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-3362. The number for the hearing and speech impaired is 1-800-462-7585. Both numbers will operate from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., seven days a week.

What you need to apply:  

  • Social Security Number

  • Private Insurance Information

  • Address of the Damaged Property

  • Phone Number

  • Bank Account Information including checking and routing numbers (if you want funds sent directly to your bank)

    Additionally, a Disaster Recover Center, 1486 Miner St., Des Plaines, is open Monday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.  to assist residents in the application process.
