Garbage Pick-Up Remains, Park District Re-Opens Thursday

Cars in refuge parking lots will have to pay meters starting at 6 a.m. Thursday, as sidewalk snow removal will be delayed.

From the Village of Wilmette, as of 6 p.m. Feb. 1.

Unless conditions change tonight this will be the last update for Wednesday, Feb. 2:

Village plows continue to operate to remove snow as quickly and safely as possible.

The regular refuse and recycling schedule will remain in place for Thursday and Friday. All alleys with Thursday pick-ups have been cleared and crews will begin clearing alleys with Friday pick-ups this evening- these alleys should be completed by Thursday morning.

Side streets continue to be cleared from curb to curb and should be completed by midnight tonight. Due to high snow on the parkways, snow is falling back into the street after it is plowed. Crews will continue to make passes and clear streets throughout tonight and into Thursday and if necessary on Friday as well.

If you moved your car to one of the available refuge parking lots, meters must be fed beginning at 6 a.m. on Thursday, February 3rd. Cars parked illegally after 6 a.m. will be ticketed.

Sidewalk snow removal will be delayed. Due to blowing and drifting snow, the snow is so deep at many intersections that it is higher than the sidewalk snow plows and will require that snow be relocated or hauled before the sidewalk plow can get through. Due to reduced sightlines at intersections please be extra cautious when walking or driving through intersections.

The Village hopes to begin clearing priority walking routes as soon as practical, but as previously indicated the primary goal right now is to clear side streets and alleys.

Thank you for your patience as the Village strives to clear all streets, alleys, parking lots, and sidewalks in the safest and most efficient manner possible.

To report a problem please call the Police Department non-emergency line at 847-256-1200. For emergencies call 9-1-1.
