VIDEO: Rep. Biss Talks Gaps in Prescription Drug Coverage

The state representative hosted hosted a forum Tuesday about the rising costs of specialty tier prescription drugs.

State Rep. Daniel Biss (D-Evanston) hosted a forum Tuesday at the on the problems facing people who have illnesses that require specialty medications, but are running into proverbial red tape with their respective insurance companies. Prescriptions for these illnesses are put into a specialty tier, where people are forced to pay a percentage of the medication as opposed to a fixed amount on other tiers.

Biss spoke with Patch before the event to highlight how this speciality tier reveals holes in the current health care system. These gaps require both national and state governments to work together with constituents to avoid greater financial, as well as health burdens down the road, Biss said.

Stay tuned for an article from Patch on the event. Meanwhile check out the video interview with Rep. Biss above.
