Wilmettan Announces Candidacy for Dem. Primary in Cook County Judge Race

Abbey Fishman Romanek is running in the Democratic Primary for Judge in the 9th Judicial Sub-circuit.

A Wilmette resident will participate in the Cook County Democratic Primary race to be judge in the 9th Judicial Subdistrict. 

Abbey Fishman Romanek announced her candidacy Friday, according to a press release. The subdistrict includes all of Wilmette, as well as parts of Evanston, Skokie, Northfield, Glenview, Morton Grove and West Rogers Park.

Romanek has been a lawyer for 24 years, and her practice includes commercial, civil and criminal cases. She is "the daughter of Morris Fishman, a leading Chicago rabbi, and Lala Fishman, a survivor of the Holocaust who continues to write and speak about her experiences," according to her website.

The Wilmettan also serves on the boards for Connections for the Homeless, the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center, as well as the village's Zoning Board of Appeals.

She has been endorsed by (D-IL), and state representatives and , as well as others.
