The Kenilworth's home rule referendum has been voted down with more than three in five Kenilworth voters casting "no" ballots for the measure. The referendum would have moved some taxing, zoning and licensing powers from the state to the local level by making the village a “home rule unit”.
Fine Defeats Frank in 17th IL House District Race

Laura Fine (D-Glenview) has defeated Kyle Frank (R-Skokie) by nearly a two-to-one margin to take the Illinois’ 17th district legislature seat. Daniel Biss gave up the seat to run for state senator in the 9th District.
Incumbent Robyn Gabel (D-Evanston) will serve a second term as State Representative for Illinois' 18th House District. Gabel campaigned on the platform of creating jobs (through international trade, innovation and manufacturing), making tough yet intelligent budget cuts, building the state's green energy profile and providing better access to higher education for Illinois children.
Barack Obama Re-Elected President
President Barack Obama and Vice-President Joe Biden were re-elected Tuesday night, defeating Republican challenger Mitt Romney and his vice-presidential running mate Rep. Paul Ryan.
