Winnetka to Honor Conor Dwyer Aug. 25

Residents are invited to celebrate the Loyola Academy alum's gold medal win at the 2012 London Olympics.

Winnetka will be naming Aug. 25 "Conor Dwyer Day" in honor of the Winnetka native and alum for .

Dwyer won a . The 23-year-old also helped fellow teammate Phelps to win the most medals in Olympic history.

The and will be honoring the swimmer’s accomplishments during an event at 10 a.m., Aug. 25, at Gazebo. Residents will also have the opportunity to meet, greet and take a photo with Dwyer.

The North Shore native is also expected to visit his alma mater and join ’s beginning-of-the year all-school Mass of the Holy Spirit on Aug. 24, according to Robin Hunt, director of public relations at Loyola Academy.
