Lake Forest Country Day School Offers Advanced Weekend Classes for 5th-8th Graders

Students can enroll in computer programming, veterinary science courses.

 (LFCDS) is hosting an Accelerated Weekend Experience (AWE) for fifth to eighth-grade students, Nov. 12-13, as a part of a recent partnership with the Center for Talent Development at Northwestern University.

These two-day interactive courses are available to all eligible North Shore area students. The cost includes a $60 application fee plus tuition of $215. The cut-off enrollment date is by 5 p.m. Nov. 9.

Fifth- and sixth-graders can register for a two-day computer programming course in “Alice” software. This introductory course prepares students for higher-level computer programming such as Java, C++ and C#.

Seventh- and eighth-grade students can register for a two-day veterinary science course as an introduction to veterinary medicine. The course involves hands-on activities in dissection, reading x-rays and working with microscopes.

Classes will be held from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Nov. 12-13, at Lake Forest Country Day School, 145 S. Green Bay Road, in Lake Forest.
