New Trier Performing Arts students will be performing Working and Almost, Maine between Dec. 12 and 15.

Working is based on the best-selling book by Studs Terkel, where he interviewed American workers about their daily work lives. This version of Working is the new edition recently revised in Chicago in 2010.  Through a series of scenes and monologues, Working explores the American workday from the drudgery of Monday morning to the drag of the second shift.

“For many students, this is their first high school musical. It has been a lot of fun seeing these kids make new friends as they work on this production,” said Director Josh Rubin.

In Almost Maine, residents find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend—almost—in this midwinter night’s dream.

Each of the New Trier actors featured in this production has a specific character to play and is featured in a specific scene.

“I love that the students are all invested in creating the quirky people that inhabit this little town,” said Director Anne James-Noonan.

The Winter Play runs on December 13 and 14 at 7:30 p.m. and on December 15 at 2 p.m. in the McGee Theatre at the Winnetka Campus.

Tickets can be purchased at the box office 45 minutes before the performance or up to 24 hours in advance of the performance online at: http://www.seatyourself.biz/newtrier.
