Notable NTHS Alumn Address Current Students

New Trier High School students will get the chance to hear from notable alumns this week, as seven recipients of the 2013 Alumni Achievement Awards address various classes at the school. 

"We are thrilled to welcome seven of our 2013 alumni honorees back to our campuses over the next few days," said New Trier Superintendent Linda Yonke. "They have wonderful, inspiring stories to share, and their discussions with our students are always a highlight of our awards week."

On Wednesday, Susan Grant '72, the Executive Vice President of CNN News Services, addressed the Social Service and Girls Club, while Steve Fickinger '78, the Theatrical Producer and Creative Consultant to several entertainment studios (and the former Vice President of Creative Development for the Disney Theatrical Group) addressed the choir-opera and piano students.

On Thursday, Jim Hackett '72, Executive Chairman of the Board of Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, addressed the accounting class, and Scott Turrow '66, a practicing attorney and best-selling author, spoke to an English Class. 

On Friday, Bruce Alberts '56, a biochemist, editor of the journal Science and former president of the National Academy of Sciences, spoke to science classes. Tom Miller '56, a senior partner in the law firm Miller, Washington and Kim and co-founder of the Green Cities Fund, spoke to IGSS. 

Bonnie Stern Miller '66 and her husband spoke to students about her life promoting peace and helping women, and she established the Youth for Peace program.
