After winning the weekly contest for NBC 5's Prep Destination of the Week, Loyola Academy students woke up early to show their school spirit.

Loyola Academy students got a taste of the spotlight on Friday morning, participating in NBC 5's Prep Destination pep rally.

The Ramblers won a to host the weekly early-morning show on NBC. Students packed the gym to show support and get their faces on TV.

"It was exactly like [ESPN's College Gameday]," said Brendan Dowdle, a senior who woke up at 4:45 a.m. to get to school early. "It was pretty intense."

The event kicked off at 6 a.m. and featured performances from student groups including Man Choir, Asian Youth Group, the Ramblerettes and the school band. 

The pep rally came a day before Loyola Academy hosted Lyons High School on Saturday night in the Class 8A quarterfinals.
