JOY OF THE GAME™ HOSTS HOOPS FOR HOPE


3-on-3 wheelchair basketball tournament to benefit the


Israeli Sport Center for the Disabled and the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago


September 29, 2012, 10:30am – 3:30pm


 


DEERFIELD, IL (September 29, 2012) – Joy of the Game™, a renowned community sports facility servicing the Northern Suburbs and beyond, is proud to team up with the Israeli Sport Center for the Disabled (ISCD) and the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC) to bring Hoops for Hope, a 3-on-3 wheelchair basketball tournament, to North Suburban residents. Taking place on Saturday, September 29th, from10:30am to 3:30pm, all proceeds from the benefit will support the disabled athletes of the ISCD, its’ programs and facilities, as well as continued rehabilitation and education efforts at RIC.


 


“This wheelchair tournament offers an eye-opening experience to the families and their children throughout our community,” says Josh Carl, owner of Joy of the Game.“It is proof that anyone can play in sports – disabled or able body. We are honored to share this with everyone.” Joy of the Game focuses on bringing enriching programs and events to their state-of-the-art facility, such as Hoops for Hope, that emphasize athletic ability, academic achievement and community involvement.


 


Hoops for Hope includes youth and adult divisions, and invites disabled and able bodied athlete alike to participate regardless of any previous wheelchair basketball experience. The event is not only about the game of basketball, but a day of fun for the entire family. Face painting and a bounce house are among the many activities available. Admission is $10, children under 12 free. Team entry fees are $50 per team.


 


Since 1960, ISCD has given over 3,000 kids and adults the opportunity to participate in twenty different sports regardless of religion, race, or ethnicity. Their belief is that sports activities contribute more to confidence, morale, and self-image of the disabled than any other form of rehabilitation.
