Loyola Academy Ramblers Sports Roundup
The boys cross country team finished its postseason races while girls basketball won its last three games.
Boys Cross Country: ’s state championship cross country team competed in the Nike Midwest Regional and took 15th place as a team.
Todd Ford, who finished fifth at the IHSA Class 3A state meet, finished in 11th place, completing the three-mile course in 16 minutes, 12 seconds. William Hague (31st, 16:23), Chris Kelly (191st, 17:25), Teddy Brombach (230th, 17:43) and Sean Lamble (275th, 18:03) rounded out the scoring for Loyola, which ran under the name “Wilmette Cross Country Club.”
Girls Basketball: Loyola pulled off two big wins last week over ranked opponents, defeating Fenwick and Benet Academy.

The Ramblers gave No. 10-ranked Fenwick its first loss of the season on Dec. 1 with a 53-32 win in Oak Park. Kathleen Stralka had 21 points and eight rebounds to lead Loyola. The Ramblers held Fenwick, which was without leading scorer Meredith Boardman, to a season low in points. Junior Anna Schueler chipped in eight points for Loyola.
Loyola then defeated Benet Academy at home on Saturday with a 42-38 victory. Schueler had 12 points in the win, which came immediately after the Ramblers co-hosted a youth basketball clinic with the Chicago Sky.

The Ramblers easily took care of Resurrection on Tuesday, getting their first conference victory in a 60-31 win.
With the three victories, Loyola improved to 6-1 on the young season and will play Evanston at home on Saturday. The Ramblers are ranked No. 15 by the Chicago Tribune.
Boys Basketball: Loyola fell to Benet Academy 47-32 on Saturday in the first annual Catholic League / East Suburban Catholic Conference Challenge. Sophomore guard James Clarke had a game-high 18 points for Loyola.
The Ramblers are 3-3 and face Fenwick on Friday.
