Loyola Academy to Host NBC 5 Friday Morning
The school narrowly beat out Naperville Central in the closest vote in the show's history.
The gym at Loyola Academy is expected to be packed by 5:30 a.m. Friday as sports fans and students show their spirit on NBC 5’s Prep Destination of the Week.
went up Monday to determine which of three IHSA Quarterfinal Round football games would be discussed on the segment. Saturday’s Lyons Township at Loyola Academy game narrowly beat out Homewood-Flossmoor at Naperville Central, pulling off a 40 vote lead just six minutes before the poll closed at noon Wednesday.
The poll received nearly 13,000 votes, with Loyola’s winning by a margin of just .03 percent – a record low for the show. The Marian Central Catholic High School and St. Patrick Catholic High School game finished at a distant third.

This will be Loyola’s first appearance on the show. Fans are encouraged to come dressed in their team colors and bring signs.
