Trevian Sports Roundup: Girls Cross-Country Outpaces Foes

Both golf teams dominate on the links while the football squad wins its third straight game.

Girls Cross-Country - Cross-country can be seen as an individual sport, but New Trier is successfully using team tactics to put itself in contention for a state championship.

The Trevians (34 points) blew away their competitiors in the nine-team Libertyville Invitational on Sept. 17, beating Lockport (53) and Prospect (59), which also featured strong teams. Fellow Central Suburban League (CSL) member Niles North (145) finished in fifth.

Courtney Ackerman, Jessica Ackerman and Mimi Smith finished second, third and fourth, respectively, all crossing the line within less than a second of each other. Prospect’s Brooke Wolf won the invitational in 17 minutes, 46 seconds, while Ackerman finished 6 seconds later.
