North Shore Census Data: How Does Your Community Stack Up?

The U.S. Census Bureau released detailed data for communities around the country last week. Here's a look at some key numbers for those living on the North Shore.

The U.S. Census Bureau last week released estimates from its American Community Survey, which provides detailed statistics for 2007 to 2011 on everything from housing to employment to marital status in communities throughout the country. Patch sites along the North Shore broke down the data for their communities. You can check out the individual stories by clicking on the links at the bottom of the page.  We also compiled some interesting data in the table below to show how the communities compared to each other demographically, as well as how they compare to the state as a whole. The Census Bureau's data is available here. Census: Wilmette, Kenilworth Residents are Richer, Older, Married, More Educated

Released Thursday, the five-year American Community Survey offers detailed demographics from the Wilmette and Kenilworth communities.

The U.S. Census Bureau on Thursday released estimates from its American Community Survey, which provides local statistics for the combined years from 2007 to 2011 on everything from housing to employment to marital status in communities throughout the country. Unsurprisingly, perhaps, Wilmette and Kenilworth residents on average tended to be older, more educated and wealthier than the average Illinois resident. Both villages also had a higher percentage of families with married parents and a higher percentage of families with children than state averages. Very interesting.
