Located in the Winnetka Metra station at Elm Street, the café serves traditional French baked goods.
Flaky is not a great word for people, but when it comes to croissants, it’s a must. And that’s exactly how the croissants at Winnetka’s Café Fleurette are. Located in the Metra Station at 754 Elm St., Winnetka, the tiny bakery often sells out of the chocolate croissants by 7:30 a.m. “It’s wonderful and exciting to stop in here and be able to pick up wonderful baked goods,” Winnetka Village President Jessica Tucker told Patch during the café’s grand opening in August. “When we were looking at bids from businesses we chose Café Fleurette because of its delicious, delicious menu. America will put staunch tea drinkers to shame on National Coffee Day on Sept. 29, when coffee fiends can rejoice and celebrate their beloved coffee bean with free brew from national chains. Coffee was first brought to America in the mid-1600s in a shipment en route to “New Amsterdam,” now known as New York, according to the National Coffee Association. Although the economy hasn't quite bounced back to its glory days, business growth in the New Trier Township is booming, with multiple businsses moving to the area in 2012. With the exception of Glencoe, the communities all have vacancy rates below the 9.5 percent average for the Chicago area. Many of the communities have vacancy rates more in line with the boom days of 2004 to 2007.
