Should This New Trier Senior Be Allowed To Walk At Graduation?

John Matthews, 18, was suspended for printing and then distributing pornographic images at school.

A New Trier senior has been prohibited from walking during graduation June 5 due to a suspension he received late this spring, TribLocal reports.  John Matthews, 18, was suspended for eight days after printing pornographic images and then dropping them down a stairwell at New Trier High School. In response, Matthews' parents requested an immediate injunction in the Cook County Circuit court Tuesday to allow their son to participate in the graduation ceremony and parties. Matthews' parents received a letter on May 24 from the high school indicating their son was officially banned from the activities. UPDATE: Former SWANCC Exec Accused of Stealing $900K Awaits Trial, Allowed to Leave State

Christopher Brook Beal may leave Iliinois to tend to business in Michigan, Judge Timothy Chambers said May 17.

Bond was modified May 17 in Cook County Circuit Court to allow Christopher Brooke Beal-- the former executive director of the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC)--to leave the state as he awaits trial on charges of embezzling more than $900,000.  The Cook County Grand Jury recently indicted Beal on two charges each of theft of government property, official misconduct and forgery. These Class X felonies carry a prison sentence of six to 30 years, according to Cook County State’s Attorney spokesperson Andy Conklin.  Beal was charged March 10 with stealing more than $900,000 in funds from SWANCC after a five month joint investigation involving the Glenview Police Department and the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Public …

I think it is a waste of tax payer money to lock up white collar criminals. An alternative idea of house arrest, day to day employment scrubbing state hospital toilets and doing other over paid union state jobs would save the tax payers millions!!   more ›
