Wilmette gas stations are charging around $4.25 per gallon as prices soar across the state. Production issues at area refineries are to blame for the spike, according to AAA, but prices are expected to decline again after Labor Day.
AAA Chicago is saying that refinery problems in Illinois and Indiana are behind gas price increases that took the cost to more than $4 a gallon in the Chicago area, according to the State Journal Register. According to ChicagoGasPrices.com, the cheapest gas you’ll find in Wilmette is $4.19 at Wilmette Auto Service. While gas prices are rising nationwide, gas prices in Illinois are rising at a rapid rate, nearly 40 cents more per gallon in the past week, according to GasBuddy.com. To find the cheapest gas around (and for traffic update, too), Patch's Commuter Central has you covered! The nonprofit braved the thunderstorms to share information on how to save money on electricity while saving the environment.
When Go Green Wilmette requested a booth at Wilmette’s Summerfest on July 13 and 14 they didn’t expect the excitement that took place. The booth’s theme was Renewable Electricity with “green” electricity attractions that included a windmill, solar panels and a bike that produced electricity when ridden. Electricity was also produced by two thunderstorms that made manning the booth especially challenging, but Go Green Wilmette volunteers weren’t about to harness that. Instead, they hunkered down and waited it out. “The rain’s no problem as long as we’re here for something good,” said Greg Vasilion, who was caught in the storms on both afternoons. This year’s event drew more visitors than any previous year and at least 100 visitors stopped …

Katie Chang, who studied at the Actor’s Training Center at the Wilmette Theater, is playing a major role in The Bling Ring.
When Winnetka resident Katie Chang read a script in December 2011, she had no idea she would end up on the big screen as part of Sofia Coppola’s latest movie. “In the audition process, I had no idea what the movie is about,” Chang said. “Sofia is known for being very secretive of her projects and keeping all of her projects very sacred until the last minute.” The 17-year-old will be playing Rebecca in The Bling Ring, a movie inspired by a group of fame-obsessed teenagers who robbed celebrity homes, including that of Paris Hilton, Lindsey Lohan and Orlando Bloom. The studio has yet to announce the release date. “Rebecca is the ringleader of The Bling Ring. … She’s the one that gets the ball rolling, she’s very into fashion, which is the …
