The North Shore Exchange will offer designer women’s clothing and accessories, as well as home furnishings and décor.
A new upscale resale shop, the North Shore Exchange (NSE), is set to open in downtown Glencoe on March 5, in the former location of the Glen Cote Thrift Shop. The building is owned by the Glencoe Women’s Library Club. All of the NSE’s profits will go to charities and non-profits, with one-third staying in the community and the other two-thirds going to programs that serve needy children and families in the Chicagoland area. “The [Glen Cote] thrift shop had really gone downhill in the last six to 10 years,” said Wendy Serrino, president of the North Shore Exchange board. “The Women’s Library Club didn’t know what to do with it.” For more local businesses stories, sign up for the Wilmette-Kenilworth Patch's free newsletter. The New Trier Democratic Organization polled 200 township residents, and now Patch wants your thoughts.
Kickstarting economic growth is the most important national issue for New Trier Township residents, according to a 2011 straw poll conducted by the New Trier Democratic Organization (NTDO). The volunteer group conducted the survey during a series of July sidewalk sales in Glencoe, Wilmette and Winnetka. Roughly 200 area residents were asked to rank 13 topics, and also questioned about casino development in Illinois. Poll takers voted "2:1 against expanding gambling casinos in Illinois," according to a press release from NTDO. Meanwhile, Patch wants to keep the poll going. We've listed the 13 issues below and encourage readers to share their thoughts in the comments below. Additionally, you can join the discussion on our Facebook pages for …

Stores in Glencoe, Northfield and Wilmette are some of the first to utilize the new service.
North Shore Walgreen Co. customers can now shop without ever having to enter a store thanks to the Web Pickup service the company launched Monday. With a click of a button, shoppers can order products online that'll be bagged for pick up in an hour at Walgreens stores in Glencoe, Northfield and Wilmette. "Our customers value choice, control and convenience; web pickup offers all of these." Walgreen's Media Relations Manager Jim Cohn told Patch. The Chicagoland area is the first to experience a full rollout—roughly 480 stores are expected to have the service by August—following a 27-store trial in San Jose, Calif. Meanwhile the program falls in line with Walgreen's bigger web development goals, according to Cohn. "Our website re-launched a …

The debt ceiling issue is a farce. David Stockman, Reagan's Budget Director : "We had a 30 year spree of phoney prosperity in this country." "In 1985, the top five percent of the households – the wealthiest five percent – had net worth of $8 trillion – which is a lot. Today, serial bubble after serial bubble, the top five per cent have net worth of $40 trillion. The top five per cent have gained …   more ›
