New Trier Senior Qualifies for National Cross Country Championships

New Trier Girls Place 4th, Boys 14th in Cross Country State Meet

Senior Courtney Ackerman took fourth individual place in the girls' race.

The New Trier girls’ cross country team finished fourth in Saturday’s Class 3A state championship race while the boys’ team took 14th in its contest. Senior Courtney Ackerman was the school’s top individual finisher, placing third with a time of 16:27. Ethan Kaplan finished first among New Trier boys, taking 53rd place overall with a time of 15:06. The state meet races were held at Detweiller Park in Peoria, Illinois. Though the girls’ and boys’ teams fared well in Saturday’s race, both fell short of last year’s results when the New Trier girls’ team won the state meet and the boys’ team finished 11th.
