Obituary: Ralph Roberts, Active Community Theater Member

Ralph owned a progressive health food store in Wilmette in the early 2000s.

Courtesy of Donnellan Family Funeral Services Ralph E. R. Roberts, age 50 of Wilmette, IL, died suddenly on April 13, 2013. He was born in Peoria, IL to Stewart and Barbara Roberts, and graduated from St. Joseph High School in South Bend, Indiana. He received his BA from the University of Michigan. Ralph began his career in the film editing business in Chicago, but spent most of his working life in the Public Relations business. For a short period of time in the early 2000’s, he had a progressive health food store on Central Ave. in Wilmette. A resident of Wilmette for 19 years, Ralph was very active in the community theater, performing in numerous shows at the summer theater in Gilson Park. Obituary: Kathryn "Kit" Fulgenzi

Memorial donations for Kathryn "Kit" Fulgenzi, a Wilmette resident, may be made to the LUNGevity Foundation.

Kathryn “Kit” Fulgenzi nee McMahon age 60, of Wilmette. Beloved wife of Giovanni Fulgenzi; loving mother of Thomas Christopher “TC” Allen; fond sister of Edwin McMahon; devoted daughter of Marguerite and Edwin McMahon, Sr.; dear aunt and cousin to many.  Visition will be held on Sunday April 7, from 4-9 p.m. at Donnellan Family Funeral Services in Skokie. Funeral Mass is scheduled for Monday April 8 at 10 a.m. at Saints Faith, Hope and Charity Church in Winnetka. Interment will be Monday April 8 at Mount Carmel Cemetary in Hillside.  Memorial donations may be made to the LUNGevity Foundation.  Obituary is run with permission from the Donnellan Family Funeral Services.

Obituary: Nona Cox, Former New Trier Teacher

Nona Cox taught U.S. History, Political Science and Modern China at NTHS, and also studied in England and China.

  Nona Cox, age 86 of Chicago was the best friend and sister of the late Adele M. Cox. Miss Cox received a Bachelor’s degree from Loyola University, Chicago, IL and a Master’s degree from Northwestern University, Evanston, IL both in History, with sabbatical studies at Cambridge University, Cambridge, England and in China during the early 1970s. Miss Cox was the former assistant to the late Governor & Ambassador Adlai Stevenson, II and the former teacher of U.S. History, Political Science and Modern China (1965 to 1983) at New Trier High School in Northfield & Winnetka, IL. Obituary: Robert Remini, Noted Political Historian and Wilmette Resident

The Wilmette resident was the former historian for the U.S. House of Representatives.

Noted American political historian/biographer and former Historian of the U.S. House of Representatives Robert V. Remini of Wilmette IL passed away on March 28 due to complications from a recently suffered stroke. He was 91. Dr. Remini was born in 1921 in New York City, the son of the late William Remini and Lauretta Tierney Remini. He was the older brother of the late Vincent and William Remini. After graduating from Fordham University, he served as a Lieutenant in the U.S Navy in the Atlantic during WWII before returning to New York to obtain his Masters and Doctorate in History from Columbia University. The following obituary is from Donnellan Funeral Home: Barbara Gardner Cook died at home in Wilmette on February 18, 2013. Mrs. Cook was born February 26, 1922 in Providence, Rhode Island. Beloved wife of the late Robert; loving mother of Barry (Sharon), Bruce (Joyce), Brian (Maggie) and David (Bigegul); devoted grandmother of Megan (Erik), Kelly, Toni, Lizzie, Oliver, Bob, John, Ian and Ameena; loving great grandmother of Effie; fond sister of William (the late Barbara) Gardner. Rae Moses, a founding member of Northwestern University’s linguistics department and co-founder of its women’s studies program, died Feb. 7.

Moses died Thursday, Feb. 7. She was married to Leon Moses, emeritus professor of economics at Northwestern. An award-winning teacher, Moses pioneered classes in language and gender, language and prejudice, and language and medicine. She joined the Northwestern faculty in 1966, serving as assistant dean of Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences from 1968 to 1976. Obituary: Mary S. "Mimi" Ryan

Mimi Ryan was very involved with the Village of Wilmette, as well as the League of Women Voters of Wilmette.

Mary S. "Mimi" Ryan, long time Wilmette resident, public servant and devoted member of the League of Women Voters of Wilmette, passed away on January 1, 2013. Visitation will be held at Donnellan Funeral Home, 10045 Skokie Blvd, on Friday, January 4, from 3 to 8 p.m. Mass will be held on Saturday, January 5 at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Church, 524 9th Street in Wilmette. Mimi spent 12 years in elected service, four as a member of the Wilmette Board of Park Commissioners and then eight years as a member of the Village of Wilmette Board of Trustees (1983-1991). As a Trustee, Mimi was an advocate for Wilmette's ban on the sale and possession of handguns. Upon the ban's approval by the Wilmette Village Board in 1989, she said "To prevent one …

Evans of Lake Forest, 87, was a WWII veteran. He started the Lad and Lassie clothing store in Wilmette, which is now being run by its third generation.

The following obituary is from Kelley Spalding Funeral Home.  William T. “Billy” Evans, Sr., 87, of Lake Forest, passed away January 1, 2013. He was a man defined by his undying devotion to hard work, his family, and his faith. His character spoke volumes without having to say a word. He showed his love by enriching the lives of those around him and didn’t expect any credit in return. Billy volunteered in the United States Navy where he proudly served as a radio operator, receiving and transmitting Morse code in the South Pacific during WWII.
