3 Fun Ways to Celebrate the Last Day of School

Kick start the summer fun by celebrating the last day of school with the kids

School's almost out and boy are my kids ready for their fun in the sun. While I still think it is unfair that parents don't get the summer off, I do look forward to our annual tradition of kicking off the summer break with some fun together.  Parents, if you can, take the afternoon off or dedicate a whole day for pure fun. Here are some ideas to inspire your celebration: 1. Hit the pool! Let the splashing begin. GBS Pitcher Wins Patch's Athlete of the Week

The nominee eked out a victory and was named Athlete of the Week.

With 5 votes in the comments section, Glenbrook South's Sully Stadler was named the Athlete of the Week.  Stadler got the win for Glenbrook South in a 3-0 victory over Maine South. Stadler had eight strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings pitched and the victory over their CSL South rivals snapped Maine South’s 18-game winning streak. HONORABLE MENTION Reggie Murphy, freshman, track and field, Evanston - Murphy was a key contributor in helping the Wildkits win the CSL South conference track meet for the second consecutive season. New Trier Alumni Continue Charity Work for Chicago Youth

Supplies For Dreams hosts second annual event at Northwestern University.

Dozens of volunteers came out Saturday afternoon to Northwestern University to pack backpacks full of school supplies to help roughly 1,300 underpriviledged students in Chicago Public Schools. "We provide basic resources to CPS students in underfunded communities," said Aria Fiat, co-founder of  Supplies for Dreams, which organized the event. Supplies for Dreams is a not-for-profit that strives to provide students with critical resources: from school supplies to mentoring programs.
