Katie Chang, a New Trier High School senior, plays a party girl in Sofia Coppola’s latest movie The Bling Ring, which opens next month, Chicago Tribune reported. When Chang read a script in December 2011, the actress who studied at the Actor’s Training Center at the Wilmette Theater, had no idea she would end up on the big screen as part of Coppola’s latest movie. “In the audition process, I had no idea what the movie is about,” Chang told Patch in a 2012 interview. “Sofia is known for being very secretive of her projects and keeping all of her projects very sacred until the last minute.” The Winnetka native plays Rebecca in the movie inspired by a group of fame-obsessed teenagers who robbed celebrity homes, including that of Paris …

Wilmette Junior High School students took part in a two-week improv program funded by District 39 Educational Foundation and the Illinois Arts Council.
Every idea is a good idea when it comes to improvisational acting and that’s exactly the lesson Wilmette Junior High School students learned during the two-week improv program funded by District 39 Educational Foundation and the Illinois Arts Council, Chicago Tribune reported. District 39 partnered with the Actors Training Center to provide the two-week residency in where improv professionals trained eighth-graders how to act without a script, many of the students said they learned how to have fun, be confident and just go with the flow, Chicago Tribune reported.
