Wilmette and Kenilworth schools are some of the best in Illinois and Chicagoland, according to a pair of recent Chicago Tribune lists and Chicago Sun-Times rankings. Growing up Katy Drucker has always had a love affair with Africa. In 2010, she decided it was time to pursue her passion for travel and photography. The New Trier alum spent three-years of savings to fund her 11-month travel across Africa and Asia. “I thought if I don’t do it now, I won’t be able to do it again,” Drucker said. “The whole year was supposed to be solely in Africa, but there was political turmoil in western Africa so I headed back to India, where I had been before.” Saturday, the 30-year-old Wilmette-based photographer will be exhibiting images from her travels at Winnetka Community House. The New Trier Hockey Club began their pre-season this Sunday with decisive Green Varsity team victories over both the Northwest Chargers (W 5-2) and the Providence Catholic Celtics (W 4-1). Tonight’s varsity football game at New Trier Township High School will be the very first held on the school’s new synthetic turf, a $3.3 million upgrade that was installed over the summer. Each year, as summer gets closer and New Trier High School seniors are just a few weeks from graduating high school, talk about the threat of pranks reverberates through the school. Some seniors decide to organize pranks that cause mild chaos for a variety of reasons. Some create pranks because they find them humorous. And others desire to leave behind a sort of legacy before graduation.
