Car Hits Woman During Parking Dispute

The woman was 'bumped' several times while trying to save a space for her husband.

We all know how aggressive people can get when hunting for a space in a crowded parking lot. At Gilson Park this weekend, police say the fight over a space turned physical.

Wilmette police officers were called to Gilson Park on Saturday for a battery complaint around noon, according to police. A woman told them that she had been saving a parking space for her husband by standing in the space while he turned their car around.

Another vehicle then tried to back into the space, “bumping into her three times with his vehicle,” the police report states.

The driver parked, left his vehicle and walked into the park, according to police. The woman decided not to sign a complaint, but the man was asked to leave the park and did so.
